"Stop trying to trick me. Next time you try to lie to someone, get your facts straight. Charon doesn't care for me, and he definitely wouldn't come back for me. I'm leaving." the girl snarled, recoiling from Nimue's grasp. The angel let her hands fall away, a flash of hurt flickering across her lovely visage.
"She won't believe us, Nimue. We were too late. If we go after her, she might try to hurt herself." Bayn advised gently.
Nimue stood still, stunned. What had happened? It didn't make any sense. The girl had completely rejected them, when there was no cause to. The pain that she sensed in the human, the complete torment, screamed for help, whereas her words screamed for isolation.
Charon, meanwhile, was making his way up the hall. Blood coated his clothing and hands, and the hard glint of a murderer still held steady in his eyes. His thoughts, however, were focused on one thing and one thing only--Namine. How would she react? Was she hurt? Had Nimue found her? Would she even listen?
Right on cue, the slender form he had come to know all-too-well barreled down the hallway. Charon paused mid-stride, his hands lashing out in a lightning-quick reflex, and gently grasped her around the waist.
[glow=red,2,300]"Namine...Namine, listen to me. Hush. Look, it's Charon."[/glow]
He tried to soothe the girl, holding her gently enough to refrain from harming her, but firmly enough that she couldn't escape his grasp. He pulled her to his chisled physique, his wings lightly resting around her. The suffering she had endured while here was almost visible around her in a dark cloud. Guilt shot through him like a lance; Charon had never intended for Namine's stay at the fortress to be so traumatic.
[glow=red,2,300]"You're safe now. I took care of the scum-blood who hurt you. Nobody will dare to touch you again."[/glow]

Once the trust was gone, it was nearly impossible for it to return. This place, her life, had done terrible things to Namine, and trusting anyone based on a few gently spoken words was out of the question. Even if that angel and her demi-god were here for her - which Namine had no idea why they would be since Charon was probably off screwing some other girl in a far away land - the thought of trusting them was inconceivable.
As Namine bolted through the hallways, wanting nothing more to escape from this hell, she suddenly felt hands clasp around her waist, jarring her body to a stop. Her hands instantly rose to cover her face as she shied away from whoever had grabbed a hold of her. In this place, a touch like that could only mean harm. Another beating, another rape, more foul words; what did it matter? It was torture all the same.
The man in front of her would be met with a completely beautiful body marred slightly by numerous cuts and bruises and a soul that had been crushed beneath the foot of this place. Immediatly however, he would see the scraps and struggle marks on her hands, the things that were currently hiding her eyes and the creature in front of her from view. Namine's form trembled for a moment before growing stock still, remembering from experience that it was better to not show them anything, it would make them leave faster. Plus, the moment the first blow was thrown, she would make her body limp. She'd give them nothing.
"Namine...Namine, listen to me. Hush. Look, it's Charon."
The voice was heart-breakingly familiar, and Namine bit down roughly on her already ravaged lip. It was all she could do to keep from collapsing or fleeing down the hallway opposite him. Then again, his hands on her waist were firm enough that she wouldn't be able to pull away anyway, not in her current condition. Namine's hands lowered to her side, grudgingly, but she turned her head away, keeping her eyes shut tight. She wouldn't look at him. The pain would be less this way, and she wouldn't fall for his lies yet again.
As he pulled her to his chest, Namine's heart skipped a beat, but she firmly commanded her body to remain stiff against his chest. She wouldn't allow herself to relax. As his wings gently brushed her shoulders Namine's eyes squeezed shut more firmly, willing herself to do the safe thing - it was always safer not to trust, that way the pain would be less.
"You're safe now. I took care of the scum-blood who hurt you. Nobody will dare to touch you again," he murmured, sounding guilty.
That was it for Namine. Finally turning her head, she opened her eyes - eyes that stared out free of happiness or trust showing only pain and a wise sadness far beyond her years. "Safety is in the eye of the beholder." she said, looking over her shoulder just as a large mixture of spirits and corpses round the corner and her tortured eyes turned neon rose. This group seemed to have some shred of humanity left however, and disappeared humbly when they saw she was busy. Turning back to look at him as her eyes dulled to brown again, she shrugged tiredly, as though seeing fifty beings about to come attack her was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Why did you come back, Charon?" she murmured, unmoving. Her recent terror had yet again reopened the long, deep cut on her cheek allowing blood to trail down from her cheek. Namine made no move to stop it.
Her heart thrummed weakly in response to his unexpected presence as though in remembrance of what could have been, if he might not have left. But the last few weeks in this place squashed any ability for Namine to be able to act upon her still very real feelings for him. The fact that he was back could just be a coincidence, after all he'd been the one to leave in the first place. She had given so much to him, and he hadn't even bothered to write a note. He was a demon, how long could that have taken?

Charon paid no mind to the undead crowding around, though he was somewhat surprised when they left upon seeing that she was occupied as opposed to because they wouldn't wish to come within a hundred feet of him.
"Why did you come back, Charon?" she whispered softly. He felt another shock of guilt wrench his heart and shrivel it, and shook his head to clear it as best he could.
[glow=red,2,300]"For the same reason that I left, Namine...you. I had to leave...I had to find someone to help you. I had no idea that any of the demons in this fortress would harm you. Furthermore, Orpheus was to protect you...but I assume his training hindered him."[/glow]
He would punch his former host later on for his negligence of his lover. Fool.
[glow=red,2,300]"I was originally searching for someone to release Liora, but as it happened, I found both that and an angel possibly more powerful than Liora."[/glow]
Right on cue, Nimue stepped into the hall, anxiously glancing around. Her teal gaze alighted on Charon and then Namine, inspiring an brief flicker of relief, followed by mild surprise as she noted the blood coating his body.
[glow=red,2,300]"Namine, this is Nimue...and her...ahem...lover of sorts, Bayn. These are the two who agreed to help you."[/glow]
Nimue smiled uncertainly and walked forward, cautiously extending a hand and laying it on Namine's arm gently. "We just want to help, Namine. I understand if you don't trust me. After...all this, I wouldn't, either. But I do ask that you allow me to help you, if only with the wounds."

Namine watched him shake his head after her words, and she closed her eyes, breathing in deeply without thought for her injured ribs. The bruise on her chest was both inside and out and thus her ribs were variably sore with one or two fractures. For the most part, Namine paid no mind to her many injuries, despite the fact that Charon was currently agitating five or so at the moment. Her chest, her shoulder, her ribs, the bruise on her hip, and indirectly the deep gash on her cheek.
"For the same reason that I left, Namine...you. I had to leave...I had to find someone to help you. I had no idea that any of the demons in this fortress would harm you. Furthermore, Orpheus was to protect you...but I assume his training hindered him."
Disregarding the quick pang of anger at hearing Charon blame Orpheus for her injuries, Namine sighed. Her heart longed to believe him, the gentle swell of it as she caught her breath told her enough, but an abused victim couldn't just go back to instantly trusting the man who had caused all of her pain. Despite her nearly hollow expression she found herself chuckling, without humor. "You didn't think any of the demons would harm me? Why wouldn't they? You said it yourself, they were going to crave me for a number of things: my aura, my body, my blood." she said tiredly, quivering as she felt the all too familiar feel of her obsidian locks brushing over the jagged puncture wounds in her neck.
Despite her cool responses, she felt herself breaking, the numbness that had invaded her limbs for the past almost month slowly draining away in favor of exhaustion. She was tired of being scared, sad, and alone, and Charon, although untrustworthy, seemed to mark the end of the full extent of her pain. Slowly the cold, mirthless expression on her face was giving away to a pained, pleading sadness, tears slowly starting to slip unbidden from her eyes. There was so much emotional and physical pain that she couldn't even respond to the fact that he had been trying to help and protect her.
"I was originally searching for someone to release Liora, but as it happened, I found both that and an angel possibly more powerful than Liora."
Almost immediatly the angel and demi-god from before stepped around the corner into her view and Namine tensed, distrust immediatly spiking through her awareness.
"Namine, this is Nimue...and her...ahem...lover of sorts, Bayn. These are the two who agreed to help you."
As the girl stepped foward and reached out slowly to touch her shoulder, Namine's eyes hardened, watching with untrusting eyes. Namine hadn't needed help. She'd needed him to stay with her, to understand and help her get through her fears. Orpheus couldn't do that without Charon in his body, he couldn't even see the ghosts that plagued her every movement - awake or not.
"We just want to help, Namine. I understand if you don't trust me. After...all this, I wouldn't, either. But I do ask that you allow me to help you, if only with your wounds."
Namine turned to look at Charon, her eyes questioning. Did she really look that bad? She hurt like hell, but was it so completely noticable? "I suppose so... Leave the cut on my cheek. I want one to heal naturally." she said softly, looking away from everyone as she gazed into the distance, not really seeing anything. It wasn't meant to make Charon guilty, it was for her to see that even the worst things could heal over time.

"You didn't think any of the demons would harm me? Why wouldn't they? You said it yourself, they were going to crave me for a number of things: my aura, my body, my blood."
Charon closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and letting it out in a slow suspiration.
[glow=red,2,300]"I had hoped to return within 24 hours. As it was, however, I ran into some...interference. I was simply lucky to manage to return when I did, Namine."[/glow]
He murmured hoarsely, trying to overcome the anguish his guilt was causing him. A long silence followed, during which Namine simply looked away. Nimue shut her eyes for a moment before reopening them, quietly awaiting a response.
"I suppose so... Leave the cut on my cheek. I want one to heal naturally." Namine relented.
Nimue breathed a sigh of relief and smiled warmly, stepping forward to allow the feathers of her wings to brush Namine's skin. Charon stepped back to allow the angel to do her work, watching with interest.
Nimue closed her eyes. She had never tried to heal another before, but the concept surely was the same. She allowed her deep need to help this human, to nurse her back to health, to fill up her heart. She made herself relive each moment--the horror of the wounds upon first sight, the deep empathy, the unconditional love she held for every being on this planet and in this universe, dead or alive, dark or light. A faint glow began to build around her; like light blue fire, gently whispering across her skin and Namine's. It had a comfortably warm, calming affect on their bodies.
Slowly, the energy began to flow through the feathers of her wings and into Namine's body, targeting each wound individually. Muscles reknit, skin closed, blood clotted. It took a little over five minutes before each wound--save for the one on her face--healed.
Nimue gasped as she felt the abrupt whiplash upon stepping back; an intense drain of power from her body. She stumbled faintly, catching herself on Bayn's shoulder, and put her hand to her forhead. Charon gazed at her for a moment, ensuring that she was alright, and then reached for Namine again. He pulled her close, gently holding her, breathing in the scent of her hair. For some odd reason, he had not only worried, but downright missed the obnoxious child. Without her constant background noise of questions and babbling, time passed by dully.

"I had hoped to return within 24 hours. As it was, however, I ran into some...interference. I was simply lucky to manage to return when I did, Namine." he murmured, his voice rough with anguish.
The suddenly tide of emotion that flowed through her caused Namine to almost fall to the ground, being forced to have to lean against Charon to hold herself up. Ignoring the blood - she'd done so for a while now - she leaned her head against her shoulder, tears leaking from her eyes. She had thought she'd been done hurting people. Never had she seen Charon's emotions so out of control. How could she affect him so?
"So much pain." she whispered, shaking her head.
As Charon stepped away, Namine's eyes cast down to the ground trying to remind herself that he wasn't leaving again as she closed her eyes. Nimue's wings gently brushed her skin and a few seconds later, she felt a sensation that resembled fire scorching through her veins. It was...comfortable, however. As her skin was reknitting and the bruises were fading, Namine's head leaned back, her hair cascading over her shoulder allowing the surrounding group to see the fang marks on her neck as they slowly sealed shut. Eyes opening she stared at the ceiling quietly, wishing that none of this was necessary. Would she always hurt inside?
As Nimue gasped and fell back, Bayn's strong hands held her upright before pulling her into the embrace of his arms. Brushing her hair aside with his hand he kissed her gently. "You were marvelous, Nimue. Do not be too worried about her, she's a strong girl." he murmured, watching her with gentle eyes.
Namine hardly even noticed as the fire left her veins, she was still staring quietly at the ceiling, trying to see through the darkness that clouded everything. As Charon's hand grasped her hip and pulled her back to his chest, her arms rose, resting between her body and his comfortably, as she closed her eyes and rested her head against his shoulder, unconcerned about the blood. Her tears remained. Namine's body still felt tender, but while it was mostly healed, her heart was not, and the pain she felt inside was much worse than the physical; it hurt so much.

Orpheus ran. The da.mned demon had refused to let him go until he was unable to go any further. Then she had reluctantly--recalling that he was under Prince Charon's protection and realizing that said demon would NOT be pleased if Orpheus was reduced to naught but a puddle of molten flesh and blood--given him some sort of potion. It had healed the worst of his wounds, luckily, and revitalized some of his energy. He had gone back to their quarters and found Namine missing, dumped cold water over himself to get rid of some of the blood, and pulled on fresh clothes before taking off again.
She could only be in Nihilit's quarters--where else would she go? Orpheus rounded the corner from the staircase and froze. There she was...surrounded by three exceedingly powerful beings. One of whom had been trapped in his head for who-knows-how-long.
The semi-human, semi-angel, former-semi-demon stared around at them for a long moment. His mismatched eyes--one dark brown, the other a startling crimson, not unlike Bayn's own--flickered over each of them in turn. His angel wings contrasted shockingly with his tanned skin, possibly from another kingdom. One a bit...hotter.
((XD))
Nimue's breath caught, and she turned to stare at Orpheus. A tiny shudder ran through her; some semblence of recognition. She felt as though she had seen him before....
She glanced up at Bayn, to see if he had the same uncanny feeling.

The silence that encompassed Namine as she listened to Charon's heartbeat seemed to make everything louder. So it didn't come to a surprise to her when she could hear foot steps pounding towards them from hallways away. Another moment passed and she saw Bayn turn his head in acknowledgement of the sound. Two more seconds passed before Orpheus charged around the corner and stopped, freezing mid-stride.
His eyes instantly lit upon Charon and she looked from Orpheus to the man she was currently pressed against with tired eyes. She was not up for any sort of arguement or something of that sort. Turning so that her back was pressed against Charon - she still couldn't believe that - she smiled weakly at Orpheus. Her eyes, while still sad, showed that at least some of her pain was gone, the physical portion. As she took in Orpheus' cuts and abused appearance she cringed on the inside before guiltly pulling away from Charon to touch Orpheus' cheek with her soft fingers. "She tortured you." she said sadly. It tore her heart to have pulled away from Charon, her pain had originated from him leaving and being away from him hurt and brought back the memories of her previous few weeks. However, in this case it was the pain of her own heart against her guilt and pain over ever hurting Orpheus. She would never place herself first, although someone, if they were looking for it, might see the signs.
"Orpheus...he's back. And this is Nimue and Bayn." she said by way of introduction. "Nimue is...obviously an angel, and I think Bayn's a demi-god with demonic blood, am I right?" she questioned, looking at Bayn for the first time.
Crimson eyes turned onto the beautiful girl. He certainly realized that she had only just talked to him for the first time, but she seemed so tired that he didn't bother bringing it up. "Yes, you'd be right." he said, his voice like fine silk. Namine nodded gratefully and returned her gaze to Orpheus. "I'm surprised you're teacher let you go...I didn't think you'd ever get away." she said gently. She could never be mean to Orpheus, her guilt was too much.
As Bayn looked at Orpheus again, his eyes narrowed. Feeling Nimue's gaze on him, he knew that she felt it too...this boy was familiar somehow, although he was certain that he'd never seen him before. Staring harder, he looked away after a moment thinking. He had both an angelic and demonic aura, he smelled like he had God in him, his one eyes was very much like Bayn's own, and his name was Orpheus. Could this man, who was very much like them and shared the same name as their son possibly be their kid? How was that possible? The Eternal Night did work in weird ways, but he it still seemed impossible.
"Boy, who are your parents?" he questioned suddenly, his eyes intense on Orpheus.

"She tortured you." Namine lamented quietly. Orpheus forced a smile, pushing the shock of hurt he felt, seeing her in Charon's arms, to the back of his mind. "No," he said, forcing himself to be cheerful, "Just visciously mauled me. Who's this? Not Charon?"
"Orpheus...he's back. And this is Nimue and Bayn." she said by way of introduction.
"I can see that he is. And hello."
"Nimue is...obviously an angel, and I think Bayn's a demi-god with demonic blood, am I right?"
Bayn confirmed, and Nimue nodded. Orpheus shifted his weight from one foot to the other, feeling the angel's intense turquoise gaze on him. After a second, Bayn's gaze seemed to sharpen as well. He glanced over at Namine, wondering if she noticed.
"I'm surprised you're teacher let you go...I didn't think you'd ever get away."
Charon's accusing gaze bore into him, and Orpheus blinked. Had he missed some...what was that smell? Blood? What had happened?
Liora, in a faintly horrified tone, explained what she had sensed, and Orpheus froze. What had he allowed to happen?! "Sh-She wouldn't let me stop fighting until I couldn't move anymore. God, Nami...oh god. I'm so sorry." his voice was hoarse, stunned, raw. Pained. He pulled her close, feeling what Charon was feeling; the most painful extension of guilt. But she seemed unharmed now. Clearly someone had healed her. Why hadn't he helped?! "God, Nami, I didn't realize..."
But she looked up at him, and he saw the forgiveness in her eyes. She knew it was through no fault of his own that he had been unable to protect her. He had been rather occupied keeping himself from being brutally slaughtered. He smiled down at her, channeling an apology and the most love he could into his eyes. More than words could ever say. A silent understanding passed between them. The tension relaxed.
Abruptly, Bayn interjected.
"Boy, who are your parents?"
Orpheus paused, slowly looking up. It took a great deal of self-control to keep his face stoic as he replied. "I don't know. I grew up amongst demons...and angels, for that matter. I'm sure you've heard of the eternal night? I was there for over 15 years." he said calmly.
Nimue's breath caught. Could it be...?

Namine knew that as long as Orpheus loved her, she would never be free of pain or guilt for that matter. Although the thought horrified her, to say the least, she could do nothing about it. She could see in his eyes the pain of finding her in Charon's arms, but she dutifully ignored it. Should she ever bring it up, she would hurt him more than he was right now. "No, just visciously mauled me. Who's this? Not Charon?" he questioned, forcing cheerfullness. Namine winced.
"I can see that he is. And hello.
As both of her new acquantances stared at Orpheus, Namine looked at them worriedly with confusion written all over her face. What was the deal? Had they never seen a halfling before? Surely they shouldn't have been so shocked, they were in love, that much was obvious from the way they looked and touched each other. Seeing Orpheus' gaze from the corner of her eyes, she shrugged tiredly.
Suddenly Orpheus seemed to sniff the air and then the buzzing at the base of her neck returned. Liora was talking to him. Within seconds horror, pain, and self-loathing entered his gaze as he turned his large eyes onto her. "Sh-She wouldn't let me stop fighting until I couldn't move anymore. God, Nami...oh god. I'm so sorry."
The pain in his voice gripped her heart and she felt herself almost begin to cry. Whether he realized it or not she was a prisoner to his emotions. As he pulled her tightly against his body, Namine was suddenly very thankful that she had been healed just moment before, otherwise this would have really hurt. "God, Nami, I didn't realize..." he whispered, stunned.
"It's over....Let us all put it behind us." she whispered, knowing full well that it was neither something she could ever forget or Charon or Orpheus could ever forgive or forget. As Orpheus smiled down weakly at her, she smiled gently at his love and silent apology, but inside she weeped. She had hoped to never be a slave to anyone again, and although she still loved Orpheus in a way, her soul bled. Forcing the weight off her shoulders for a moment, she sighed as the atmosphere relaxed.
Stiffing as Bayn suddenly spoke, Namine turned, working free of Orpheus' arms so that she could see the demi-god clearly. What was his problem? Frowning just a bit, she was about to speak when Orpheus beat her to it.
"I don't know. I grew up amongst demons...and angels, for that matter. I'm sure you've heard of the eternal night? I was there for over 15 years."
"You guys, this is sort of a delicate subject... Maybe you should stop asking such personal questions. We've both just met you after all." Namine said, her voice tight.
Bayn stiffened as he heard Namine's breath caught. That was enough for him. This boy was his son. It was...odd to say the least, to have a grown son in front of him who was only a couple years younger than him in mortal time. Turning to gaze at Nimue, he shook his head slightly when he caught her eyes. The message was clear. Not now. They would have to discuss this later. They couldn't be hasty. For her protection, he was not going to let her get her hopes up, or whatever she was feeling, until they were sure. This was obviously a touchy subject, for all of them.
Moving so that she was pressed against his front, his arms wrapped around her waist as his head dipped over her shoulder in a comforting way. Once she realized that this was their son, he had no doubt she would need some sort of support to keep herself up, and someone to hold her back. She could very well jump on the unsuspecting, child after all.
As Namine practically glared at the loving couple, she suddenly felt the past few weeks slam into her, and her hands that had previously been curled into tight fists suddenly slackened. Agony shot through her head, and she clutched it slowly, her hands sliding through her hair to grasp her head. Her eyes turned to meet Charon's a moment before her vision faded into blackness, and her legs collapsed from underneath her, bringing the ground rushing up to meet her.

Nimue leaned back against Bayn, staring at the man before her who, only weeks ago, had fit easily into her arms and gazed up at her with the same mismatched eyes, the same faint hint of an unreal presence...her head swam, and she had to close her eyes tightly to keep from falling.
At the same moment, Orpheus caught an odd movement from the corner of his eyes.
It was perfect timing, as though it had been rehearsed. Instictively, even before she knew it, Orpheus and Charon knew that she was going to fall. They moved in flawless, effortless, choreography. Charon's hand went to her back. Orpheus stepped forward and caught her shoulders. Charon pushed, and the semi-human lightly pulled her up into his arms securely, even before she was completely unconscious. Charon stepped back, and they both turned to look at Bayn and Nimue with the same calm expressions they had possessed before.
Studying the two god-like apparations before them, Charon made a soft, thoughtful grunt. There was a look in their eyes, as they gazed at Orpheus, that made him wonder.
Of course!
"Of course," he began slowly.
"I wonder why I never noticed? I suppose it stands to reason, though."
He saw Orpheus and Nimue--as they were in his line of sight from this angle--look up at him quizically.
"What are you on about?" Orpheus demanded, holding Namine gently. The only reason he had yet to freak out was because he was aware that she had merely passed out from sheer exhaustion and nothing more serious.
"I never did meet you directly. After all, I believe only Liora had any memory of it."
He mused. Orpheus glared at him, whereas Nimue's hand slowly raised to her lips.
"Charon, spit it out!"
"You don't see it, Orpheus? These are your parents."
Orpheus stared. "WHAT?"

As light shot away from her vision like she was the plague, Namine felt two people touching her at once, keeping her from falling to the floor. The hand on her back practically burned the skin of her back with the heat and darkness it radiated, but the pain was welcome. As two hands grasped her shoulders, Namine's body tingled at the feel of instability. The mix of angel and demon in a person created a highly unstable, "gray" inbalance in a person, and the energy radiating off of these hands were choked with it. It was unhealthy and unnatural, but still soothing. Both terrified her in their own way, but the blissful darkness of the first called to her like a lover, and finally she succumbed to it, causing the world around her to disappear.
Namine wished that she could greet Charon properly, saying as their only reunion had been her denying his presence, but what would she do anyway? She couldn't show any sort of inappropriate compassion to his return with Orpheus hovering - which he no doubt would - and it hurt to not be able to welcome him...back. She wanted to use the term "home", but Charon wouldn't think of being by her side as home. He may have come back, but it was only as a friend to keep her from losing her mind.
Watching with dark, crimson eyes, Bayn stared at the two as they caught Namine with ease. Even if the two men couldn't feel the tension they both radiated, he could without effort. They weren't overly concerned about Namine, but they both cared about her greatly, and while Orpheus was trying to keep ahold of what was his, Charon obviously cared for the girl. Being with Nimue had opened the eyes of the demi-being, and Bayn could see such things easily now. Charon obviously had deep feelings for her, and yet he was either set on denying them or he hadn't realized it himself yet. A pity. As Nimue leaned against him, Bayn knew that he had never been so graced by anything in his life. The love of a human, or an angel, was the most amazing thing. It could bring you so high, and even when it seemed like you were about to fall, they would be able to catch you, despite all thoughts that they were weak.
As Charon turned toward them again, Bayn saw the look in his eye, the methodical ticking in his brain that was slowly working toward the truth. He wanted to stop him from blurting it out like an idiot, but he could already see that it was going to happen, no matter how quickly he acted. Tightening his arms around Nimue in preparation for what was to come, he solidified his stance.
"Of course. I wonder why I never noticed? I suppose it stands to reason, though," Charon began.
"What are you on about?"
"I never did meet you directly. After all, I believe only Liora had any memory of it." he continued, ignoring the boy.
"Charon, spit it out!"
"You don't see it, Orpheus? These are your parents."
"WHAT?
Grasping her tightly against his waist, he stared Orpheus down, his eyes guarded, prepared for any reaction. If he considered harming them, he would quickly throw Nimue from his path, and take on his son if need be. "Nice one, Charon. I had hoped you wouldn't have brought that up quite yet." he said, softly.
Turning his knowing gaze onto Orpheus he said light, "You're tri-blooded. Angel, Demon, God. One from her. Two from me. You have the eye. You were born in the Eternal Night." He was simply listing some of the hard, facts. What he wouldn't say however was that he had the name Nimue had given him - it was much to intimate - and his last name came from his birthplace, as well as the fact that he didn't even need these facts. He was a Demi-God, he could sense and smell it. This boy was of his own.

"Nice one, Charon. I had hoped you wouldn't have brought that up quite yet." Bayn said. The demon glanced over at him, catching the flash of irritation in his gaze and smirking in an attempt at feigning innocence.
Orpheus was staring at them in complete shock. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, not one making any sense. His head began to shake slowly from side to side. "This isn't...no. This isn't possible."
Nimue was holding her breath, watching him hopefully. Would he accept it? Bayn seemed tensed to fight, but she knew that Orpheus wouldn't do anything to harm them. She could see it; if only because of the girl he held in his arms.
"You're tri-blooded. Angel, Demon, God. One from her. Two from me. You have the eye. You were born in the Eternal Night." Bayn explained.
Orpheus stumbled slightly, and Charon calmly reached out and grasped his shoulder to steady him. The semi-god-demon-human shrugged him off, handing Namine's unconscious form into his arms. Charon blinked, but supported the slight weight without even drawing in a breath.
Orpheus turned towards them. "If what you're saying is true...why did you leave me there?"
Nimue looked away, recalling the threats and the pain.

Bayn's eyes hardened as he saw Charon practically smirking. Baring his fangs in Charon's general direction he had a quick, uncontrollable flash of hurting Namine, as it was the only way to really make Charon's blood boil, but that was only the toxins in his system talking. Besides, that would not help their case at all. Oh, and Nimue seemed to have taken a liking to the beautiful girl. Charon would probably be able to see it in his eyes, but he simply changed his focus from the demon to his son who was currently shaking his head in denial.
"This isn't...no. This isn't possible."
He could feel how Nimue was practically trembling in his arms out of hope that Orpheus would accept them. He however had far less thoughts of such nature. Even if he did accept them, Orpheus had obviously had a horrible childhood, and it would take a while to forgive them. No matter what their reasons had been.
Watching as the tri-blood stumbled a bit, he nodded gratefully at Charon for having caught him. Not that it really mattered. Orpheus could fall, he was a big boy. Charon was probably only stopping him from falling to the floor because of the unconscious female in his arms. As Orpheus passed the girl to Charon, Bayn watched the High Demon's face. While he looked surprised, there was a slight change to his expression, a gentleness that seemed to enter there without his knowing.
"If what you're saying is true...why did you leave me there?"
Even though Bayn hadn't been apart of this decision, he hadn't even been there when he was born, he could figure out Nimue's reasoning easily enough. "Not because we wanted to," [/i] he couldn't very well say love, now could he, "There really was no choice. If we had kept you with us, the Dark and Light Society would have ...eliminated you, and even if they had not, my mother would have."[/color] he said quietly, not liking to bring her up. Even Nimue didn't know his background or his family yet. If they didn't know, they were safe, and that was how he hoped to keep things.[/size][/blockquote]

Charon's brief moment of gentleness, however, was not simply because of the girl in his arms. No, there was a sort of brotherly, or perhaps fatherly, affection in his gaze when his hand touched Orpheus' shoulder. It couldn't be helped. While he, in a way, despised Orpheus for the time he was confined, he also knew the boy inside and out. He had no choice but to respect Orpheus' character. Being trapped inside someone's head for fifteen years forced you to appreciate the struggles they went through, in a way.
"There really was no choice. If we had kept you with us, the Dark and Light Society would have ...eliminated you, and even if they had not, my mother would have."
Nimue cast a glance up at her lover. He only mentioned his mother on rare occasions, and it was never on a positive note.
"You see, Orpheus...Bayn--er, your father--sent me to the eternal night while I was pregnant with you. Unfortunately...we didn't realize that the demons and the angels would be so...outspoken. You and I were attacked more times than I care to recall." She trailed off for a moment, and Orpheus felt his heart give a wrench at the hollow, raw sorrow that flickered in her turquoise eyes. She dropped her gaze to the floor, recalling the pain and fear, the constant nightmares of loosing him. And she had.
"I gave you to an angel. I don't...I don't recall her name. She promised to take care of you." Nimue's voice gave out, and she turned her head to bury her face against Bayn's chest.
Orpheus closed his eyes tightly, feeling them watering. "Was it Liora?" he whispered.
Nimue slowly looked back at him, and gave one tiny nod as she recognized the word. "Yes...Liora."
