(a continuation of an earlier thread where Salinechal and Harabec are making their way to Gaia Forest through Cinead).
*Zynn-tae*
A huge black horse walked alongside the road a few miles, but a closer look showed that this was no ordinary horse! She was a raw-boned creature with feral red eyes, an unkempt grey mane and tail, and fangs jutting from her lips. Zynn-tae had walked for several days along this road out of Erebos and into this hot land. She liked this barren and desolate place. Extremes in climate never bothered her nor did hunger, thirst, or fatigue for she wasn't a normal creature that would be affected by such limitations...she was a nightmare. Though she was an extremely evil creature, she tolerated good, and knew better than to be wantonly destructive. She searched her memories as she walked along the road, wondering at what point in her existence did she start being 'good' or at least not be utterly destructive towards the living. Maybe it was that stint with that paladin, Kiralark, where Zynn-tae experienced true goodness, at least the kind that didn't entail her getting killed by the holy warrior woman. Since that time, Zynn-tae had new respect for those who fight evil in their deity's name.
As she walked along, she heard the footsteps of a creature on the hunt. She turned her head to see a huge saber-toothed tiger crouching nearby, its yellow eyes glittering in intent to kill. She turned to face her attacker and grinned, showing her fangs at the great cat, her red eyes glowing. She gave a great snort that sent smoke and flames out of her nostrils. The saber-tooth gave a howl of terror, turned sharply around, and bolted away from the monster.

As she and Harabec walked along, Salinechal heard a cry: "Bec! Did you hear that?" She walked a short distance and peered down the road to see a black horse standing near it...and a saber-toothed tiger running full speed away from the horse. She walked a few steps closer to get a better view of this horse, but halted in her tracks and dared not go further. As she looked at Zynn-tae from a distance, Salinechal searched her memory for when she had learned about this creature. She knew of supernatural beings that took on the guise of a horse like the kelpie or the pooka fairy, but couldn't place the beast that stood in the distance. Zynn-tae turned her head and saw two humans standing in the distance-a woman and a man. She gave a smoke laden snort and started to walk over to them.
"Remain very still, the monster is coming over to us. It's more curious than hostile," said Salinechal as she held out a hand to signal to Harabec to stay his hand from his weapon. She turned her attention to the approaching nightmare, focusing on Zynn-tae's horrible appearance. Zynn-tae stopped about 10 feet away from Salinechal and Harabec, her red eyes glowing...as well as her hooves. The evil than emanated from the nightmare chilled Salinechal to her bones, and she dared not make eye contact with the monster, for she feared an attack. She now remembered what this evil beast was that stood before them, a dark creature so terrible that even her teachers spoke of them in hushed tones.
[glow=red,2,300]"Relax, if you don't attack me, I won't kill you. Allow me to introduce myself; I am Zynne-tae Banebringer of the Banebringer Nightmare tribe,"[/glow] said Zynn-tae. She was amused by the terror her appearance caused in the two humans, even though she had no interest in harming them. Salinechal looked up at Zynn-tae, but was careful about meeting the nightmare's gaze.
[glow=red,2,300]"I may be a nightmare and bringing wrack and ruin is part of my fell reputation, but notice I haven't attacked you...at least yet...so don't get any bright ideas!"[/glow] snorted Zynn-tae, [glow=red,2,300]"Besides, I could stand to have some company in my travels."[/glow]
